U.S. Senator, Joe T. Robinson
 

Joseph Taylor Robinson was born in a log house on a farm northwest of Lonoke in 1872, he died in 1937 in Washington, DC, the most powerful member of the U.S. Senate. He served 10 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, as Ark Governor in 1913, and as U.S. Senator until his death. In 1928 he was the Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate, the 1st southerner on a major ticket after the Civil War. His old Lonoke home still stands today (see Lonoke sites).
